Community Today
The Community today is called Haudenosaunee or Six Nations. It was origianally call the Kanonsionni, which means "people of the longhouse." The heart of Iroquois is in the state of New York, although most live New York, some live in Ontario or Quebec. In today's community They speak English, but they originally spoke Mohawk at the great council and at Iroquois religious festivals. Many Elders still speak the language of their tribe.
